The First Copy of Misguided Arrived—Here’s What Comes Next
Preorders for my new book are live, events are coming, and I’m booking interviews.
It’s real. After five years of writing, revising, and rethinking, I finally held a copy of Misguided in my hands this week. It’s surreal. Writing a book was always a long-term dream of mine, and it’s wild to actually be able to flip through the pages of my own book. I share more about the behind-the-scenes of my book here.
Misguided explores the social science behind how misinformation spreads, and why it sticks. It dives into the psychology of belief, trust, identity, and uncertainty, and what we can actually do to respond more effectively. At its heart, Misguided isn’t about winning arguments or shaming people who think differently than us; it’s about understanding why we believe what we believe. I dive into politicized topics like vaccines and COVID-19, but my hope is that these examples show how social forces—like identity, group dynamics, and trust shape how we interpret information.
If you’re into science, psychology, media, or just trying to make sense of our information-overloaded world, this is book for you.
Want me on your podcast or event?
I’m now booking podcast interviews and virtual talks for the launch of Misguided. If your audience is curious about misinformation, science, media literacy, or how beliefs take root, let’s talk. I already have a few in-person events scheduled and would love to do more of those as well!
You can reply to this email or contact me here.
Preorders are now live & free copies
The official release date is July 8th, but you can preorder now at the Columbia University Press store, but Misguided is also available at all major retailers. Amazon is currently running a 22% off sale, and buying from them helps my book go up in the algorithm! They also may ship it much earlier.
Please feel free to request it at your local bookstore as well! I have already heard of people getting their copies early, so you might be able to get it very soon. If you do receive a copy, you can help me out a ton by leaving a review on Amazon/Goodreads and/or sharing the book with your friends.
Also, those who signed up to be annual paid subscribers of my Substack before March of this year will be receiving their free signed copy soon! I believe I have the addresses of everyone who requested a book, but if I missed you, please reply to this email and get your book!
Finally, I plan on doing more book giveaways in the future, so stay tuned for those!
I will do a more detailed summary of my book in a few weeks when the official launch date happens, but I wanted to share these updates. Thank you for being here. I’m so excited to finally share this with you.
